I find that monotype printmaking is a great way to explore a theme swiftly. The mark making process is expressive and immediate, and the accidental marks produced add to the spontaneity of the method. The three column motif is one that has been running for a while and has crossed over into landscape study when visiting large cities. It did not however arrive from skyscraper, more the theme of ‘three strikes and you’re out’.
